The Community Health Crew, is made possible by a partnership between Rocky Mountain Youth Corps and local nonprofit health organizations. The CHC is made up of 6 young adults, ages 18-25, who serve their community 24 hours per week at the partner job site.
Each CHC crewmember came into this program with an interest in the healthcare field and a desire to serve their community. During their 900 hours of service, they will gain meaningful work experience and networking within the field, as well as earn a $2,675 AmeriCorps Education Award which they can use to pay for college or to pay existing student loans.
Each crewmember will also graduate from CHC with 3 college credits earned from the "Foundations for Community Health Workers: Part I" course, taken Fall semester 2011, through UNM-Taos.
